my grandfather, Richard Roughley was one of the rescuers. he is on the left of the photo in the book about this.

My grandfather , John Ashurst was also rescuer and on the Jury , photo also in the book but he died 1911 from possible effects of fumes, sadly my mother was born in feb 1908 so never knew her father. Great u tube video on maypole pit disaster with watching.
