When we were kids, we thought L.U.T. was Lend Us Tuppence.(Twopence)

The biggest Lancashire United buses were 26 jumbo Northern Counties bodied Daimler Fleetlines, new 1970-74, 358-363, 394-413, ATJ272-277J, RTJ422-431L and VTC494-503M, allocated at all three depots at Hindley, Atherton and Swinton. This bus, 413 VTC503M was the last of the 26, and its body was destroyed by fire in Hindley depot in 1981. All the jumbos passed to GMT, and 413 renumbered 2413 was rebodied to single door by 1983, and painted in orange, brown and white. After GMT withdrawal it was painted black, and became a Hag Fold Morris Dancers bus and probably still survives. I last saw it at Robin Park about 2012.
