The nameplate is now in the offices of Joy Mining in Ince, pretty much on the colliery site.

That should clear up any confusion as to where Moss Hall Colliery was.

Does this nameplate relate to the Ince Moss colliery, down Cemetery Lane, Ince, or to the whole of the colliery company?.

No, Albert, it refers to Moss HALL Colliery, which was situated near Seaman's Way, near to Joy Mining, (formerly Gullicks). The MOSS Colliery, (not Moss HALL), was the one down Cemetery Road.

Excellent stuff, Ron.
Glad to see that the old mining memorabilia is being saved.
Thanks for the pic, Neil

I'm glad I had this in the locker winder.Went over the site of the pits recently. Could only find ruins of Mellings Farm.Regards The Pearson and Knowles Moss Pits down Cemetery Road Ince, some buildings remain, especially the loco shed and the canal tippler too.Buried in the woods are large stone blocks which may be the remains of the pit which blew twice in 1871. Still not done Newfoundland Pit after your help but it is on the list of must dos. All the best.

The correct name for Mellings Farm is Moss Hall Farm.
