Wigan Album

i loved C&A in wigan everyone shopped at C&A in the 60s me and my friend christine atkins sadly she has now passed away we were in wigan hanging around and we went down that arcade sort of off market st and you could get into the market hall through these big doors,do you remember,anyway i found £7 on the floor more than a weeks wage then, well what we were going to do with it my friend wanted to go to the room at the top, as if we were only about 13 but i knew i would have to tell my dad or else,my dad was very honest and took it to the police station on ince bar still there only flats now ,they said if nobody claims it in 6 weeks it was mine, nobody claimed it , i had 7 pound for myself in 1963/4ish ha ha well my mam went to wigan with me to spend it, where did i go C&As i got loads dresses stockings(no tights then) then we went to gorners caffe in legs o man arcade and had silver service dinner roast beef roast potatoes, well a sunday dinner on satdy, then apple crumble and custard wonderfull all payed for on me i had enough left for loads of pop ,toffy and crisp to knock me sick,can you imagine what 7 quid would buy today ha ha .
