Wasn't he the first headmaster? Seem to remember Grandma Ella (Thomas' grand-daughter} saying so but could be wrong.

hiya Elayne they lived at back 23 Longfield Street till 1887, and then my gg grandfather died young. His wife remarried a John Walker and moved to Bolton Road, but I believe some Fairhursts stayed in Longfield Street. Wonder if we have a connection?

do you know if Len Fairhurst (and his wife Alice) who lived in Aston in the 60's and 70's is connected to this family?

I the 1881 census, Thomas Fairhurst lived at Schoolmaster House, Aspull. He was married to Margaret Fairhurst and they had 4 sons - Thomas Enoch Fairhurst, Benjamin Turner Fairhurst, Percy Fairhurst and Herbert John Fairhurst,my grandfather

Leonard Fairhurst would have been born sometime between 1915 and 1920 - He died in 1980 and was a memeber of St Peteres church in Bryn - as a young man he had goalkeeping trials for Everton - but ended up working for (I think) the gas board in accounts. He never drank a drop as my mum told me his dad had been a heavy drinker and very hard on him as a boy. Len was like a granfather to me a really wonderful man.
