I believe the person in front of the 7th person on the back row (has a hand on his right shoulder) is Alan Cumberbatch (might have been his brother whose name I don't know). If so, he has worked in the Pilkington Lathom Laboratories.

I am the guy on the left of Ronnie (Ron) Hunt - 103 and Cliff Moss - no relation - is at the back of me with his arms round my neck.
Know many others in the pic. butwould like confirmation.

I am on the right on front row (No 605)the lad at the side of me stood up, all in white is Andrew Boardman. He lived at Newton-le-Willows and got knocked down and died on his way to school. I recognise other faces but no more names other than those already mentioned.

At this time the only athletes worth their salt were Tony Bennet, Billy Anglesey, Frank Richards,(later Mr Universe, but I don´t much go in for that), and myself, I don´t see any of us

Ist left on the front row is Michael Gibbons. He was a year ahead of me and lived in Culcheth

Comment by: Grammar Grub on 25th August 2010 at 13:50

I recall having a drag outside Fanny Orgills after school. Met with numerous gentlemen from the Thomas Linacre, Gent, Nobby Naylor, Roy Painter, Ray Downing, Tony Doran, Kev Bond amongst them - a really polite set of clean cut boys.

I think the fourth from right on the back row is Ken Croasdale. He and I travelled together from Chorley to TLS. Ken was a smoker from school days and died of lung cancer about 5 years ago.

Comment by: RON HUNT on 28th September 2010 at 16:59

I remember Ken Croasdale I think he was in the same year as me but not in my class. Also I remember a couple of lads, in my year, who I think came from the Chorley area ?.Gale and ?.Yeo

I remember Carl Fairclough as a good runner from our class; I also remember Martin Boardman - I went to his funeral with Gwyn Jones. I thought it was Ray Baldwin on the front row left, but could be mistaken. For those who remember Terry Goulden, we remained best friends until his untimely death Nov. 5th 2002. I was with him at the end. Does anyone know the whereabouts of Brian Belshaw; not seen him for years.

Comment by: Ron Hunt on 10th December 2011 at 22:58

The last I heard, that was a few years ago, Brian Belshaw was living in the apartments on the canal bank at Parbold

Hi, I see that some of you are enquiring about me. I moved to Croston in 1996 with my wife Valerie (Wall). who sadly died in 1999. I got married again in 2007 to my now wife Carole Highton (Boylan), some of you may know her, she went to the convent at the same time as Valerie; and lived in Swinley Lane. We live between Croston and Spain and both of us are still into music, (that is our passion)and still playing in both countries. Would love to hear from any old pals and school friends. to catch up.
