Good photo Fred, would this have been in the 'new' boys school over in the old nursery? Any chance of putting Blundell Arms on? Please?!

George Millard was the son of James Millard local Wigan photographer who took numerous photographs in and around Wigan. See picture of him and his shop in:- Places, Market St.

the boy on the second row, 4th from the left was Charlie Fairbrother, who had a gents outfitters in Newtown. The picture was in the old infants school, which became the nursery and is now a Pupil Referral Centre. I went to that school as a boy and the teachers were the Misses, McAvoy, Broomhall. Starkey and Simm. The Head Teacher was Miss Holland.

Hi Fred, I the same teachers in 1946. i remember having to go to bed for an hour at sometime in the day.

I remember going to bed every afternoon. we had green sheets and pillowcases. We had to take them home to be washed at the end of term.I volunteered to take a sick child's washing home and as a result both I and my brother got measles from contact with the bedding!!
