Postcard - St Mark's School Newtown Wigan - Roll of Honour 1914 - 1915.

The message reads: Let the Present and Future Generations Never Forget the Old Boys who Responded to the Country's Call in Her. Listed under the Army Service Corps heading is my grandfather Walter Hampson (S4/085688). Two columns of 2-digit numbers appear by each name and I don't know what they refer to.

Any chance you could read the entries under Grenadier Guards? They are not easy to read and evn worse when I try to enlarge the photo. I am trying to trace a relative of mine. Thanks

Sorry for the delay - a special eye glass was required! Under the heading Grenadier Guards are only two names:
CUNLIFFE, THOMAS 03.08 + (+ INDICATES KILLED IN ACTION OR DIED OF WOUNDS).
HESKETH, REGINALD 99.07 o (o INDICATES WOUNDED IN ACTION)
I don't know what the numbers after each name signify.

I wonder whether the 4 digit numbers separated by a full stop denote the years ie 1903 to 1908 that the child attended the school. However the second number would then mean 1899 to 1907 - a long time at primary school.
