I remember it so well. They were HAPPY days if only we'd believed Mum & Dad. They made the person I am today;I can still remember the names of most of the teachers and the wonderful Rocking Horse in the Primary class.
Thanks for the photo. I left in 1956. Of course there were pavement railings outside the school whilst it was in use.
I was there probably around 1044 onwards and with two elder brothers Martin and John tho I'm unsure of dates.
I remember having a nice lie down and nap period in the afternoon.
Am keen to learn more
There from 1942 to 48. Miss Willkox was head mistress. The bomb shelters were removed during those years. No more places for 'sardines'. We were instructed at that time to call it the Methodist School - never understood why Wesley was out of fashion. Sports day in the church area across the road and dancing in the church hall.
I went to St Johns in the early 60s and it always knew it as the Wesleyan School. Used to walk over to St Johns Hall for our school dinners and the playground was attached to the church hall.
Some name calling happened from time to time over the wall.
I was a pupil from 1955 to 1961 we had Mr Green Miss Foy and headmistress Miss Wilcox happy days
I left in 1966. I remember Mr Green was head by then. I remember Miss Foy, Mrs Abbott and Miss Lorimer who taught Junior 4. I still have a class photo taken in the hall.
