It looks to have been a very homely school. Maybe not many mod cons, judging by the metal bowls containing the hand-washing water, but what a personal touch, having help with hand-washing from what appears to be a kind lady.

My Mother Alice Ashcroft was caretaker of the school round about that time. There is a photo I sent in of her and Mrs Boon doing the dinners in Schools
