About 1925. I think the headmaster at the time was mr Anderson or Anderton. The little girl at the front with her dress pulled over her knees is my mother, she got a telling off from her mother for doing that.

They look like teachers to be scared of. I wonder how many people in Hindley are decendants from these besides Margaret. Great pic, how times have changed.

The headmaster was J. R. Anderton, he died in Blackpool aged 70 and was buried in Hindley cemetery in 1941.

I notice the children are wearing clogs, I wonder if they brought them from Hurst cloggers across the road from the school. My Dad Bob Pemberton went to St Peters in 1939-46
