I certainly recognize Cliff Leather and Keith Meadows on the front row. Adrian Bate could be there also.

I played on this school team for the season 1952-53., and I have before me a photograph of myself with both of the trophies shown in your published photograph which we won that season. I believe that broady and keith are correct in their naming. The teacher is Fred BRIDGE, who I have a vague recollection as having family connections at Lee Lane Farm, and is the tall chap not Alan HOLMES who replaced me as goalkeeper? I am also trying to identify Fred DARBYSHIRE, who may be the one standing just in front of Mr BRIDGE'S left shoulder. middle row. I recognise other faces but at this distance in time, 61 years., I am having difficulty with names, and would be guessing. The phot was taken against the back wall of the playground with the "new" housing estate roofs just visible.
hich we won that season.
I sent you an E earlier this evening reference to this photograph. I have since read the comments by Graham FAIRCLOUGH on the other photograph shown. These boys were a year behind me at school, and there is now no doubt in my mind that he is correct with his naming. I remember the names he has given, and I particularly remember that Graham was a big lad, as was Alan HOLMES who I wrongly named. I am surprised that I did not recognise Douglas HOUGHTON. I have no doubt which one was keith MEADOWS - an excellent player. Facial recognition has otherwise faded with time (61 years.) Perhaps you would care to disregard my ealier E mail. I will try and locate the team photo for the season 1952-53., and come back if successful.
Reference to my previous E mails regarding the above photograph. I have now found the Team Photograph for the Season 1952-53. There are some new faces a couple of which I can name, and I am sure that others can be identified. The Headmaster of the day, Mr ALMOND is also included. I am sure that Kieth and Graham would be interested if they do not aready have this picture. I woder if the present day St John's maintain an archive?
