The background looks more like the sea than a mountainside - perhaps you were on the Great Orme at Llandudno, rather than Snowdon?

What You say can't be disputed, I have noticed that myself for all the years I have been looking at them, the only water I can think of around Snowdonia, must be one of the lakes, Bala springs to mind, that has a great expanse of water.

I remember travelling up the hill/mountain by carriage coupled to green locomotive, the area we stopped at was on the desolate side, if that makes any difference.

The story gets more confusing... if you went to where the pic was taken on a loco-hauled train, then Snowdon would be the location - but you can't see any large expanse of water from the railway. Bala is long and thin, and miles away from Snowdon. On the other hand, you could get a view such as this from near the terminus of the Great Orme Tramway.

This is another comment regarding the subject of doubtful certainty. The school trip was pre-booked, I don't remember how many pupils went but I know it was a carriage pushed by a locomotive, not a tram, plus I have never been on the Great Orme, only near to, i.e. the amusements, and the steamboat sailings in years gone by. Regarding the space of obscurity, it is what one would expect with an old box camera, no speeds, no f-stops; it does indeed resemble water but like you say the lakes are a distance away, so it appears there is just one medium left to go for....Low Cloud. Let's hope my other entries will create more, interesting topics.
