So good to see all my old classmates again, this looks like the 4th year when the Christmas cakes would be taken from class to class to show off(and well they might, they were beautiful cakes after they were finished off). Our caps and aprons were made in 1st year needlework. For Christmas, 1st year cookery class we made mincemeat, 2nd year Christmas pudding, 3rd year a rough iced cake, 4th year very well iced cake. Lovely to see everyone again. I had left Moss Lane school by the 4th year but have happy memories of the time spent with most of these girls from St Nathaniel's primary school. Kind regards. Ann from Moss Lane.

Lovely to see everyone on this picture again, like Ann I went through primary school with all the girls. I think I left Moss Lane to go to Leigh Tech earlier that year but have fond memories of our earlier years. Brenda from Spring View.

it was nice to see this picture, has anyone got the 1963/64 picture

Comment by: Gordon Topping on 10th May 2012 at 22:25

Yes, I was in this class, (though not the cookery class),I remember a lot of the names.
We did cookery in (I think) year 4, and the girls did woodwork.
I used to look forward to going to metalwork on Friday's

Hi Ann M as I knew you.Do you remember me?.I along with Barry Halliwell & Dave Jonesset up the last reunion Dec14.Margaret Hatton wasn't there as we had difficulty tracing the girls due to maiden name changes.Dorothy Hunt,June Pilling & Eileen Howard were the only ones present. However we are now able to contact many more since the last one.Next one will be end of October.Hope you will be able to make it,if you are still local to Wigan area. You may have info about the whereabouts of others we are trying to trace. Please get in touch via my email.Look forward to hearing from you.Sorry to hear that your husband has medical problems but he's welcome to come too.The venue for the next one will probably be Bickershaw L.C.'Robby'.

To all Moss Laners from the above era.It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Gordon Topping passed away on 6th August'15.He had been living in Malaga Spain for the past 25yrs.I have had some email contact with him over the past few years. As such, I am aware of where his life had taken him after his Moss Lane days finished.Anyone wanting to know more, please speak to me at the next ML reunion at Bickershaw L/Club on 27th OCT 15.I have email contact with his wife Tracy.

Comment by: Wigwann on 23rd August 2015 at 20:09

So very sorry to hear of Gordon's death and that of Margaret Hatton and my condolences to their families. I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the reunion in October and to have a proper catch-up. Kind regards. Ann nee Stevenson

hi Les, thanks for the info - so sorry to hear about Margaret and her husband - last time I saw her 40 years ago she was working behind the bar of a pub in Leigh, think still married to Ken - was it him that died? remember her doing poems to Terry out of our class - such a shame. do you know what she died of?

Comment by: anne woods (prev morris) on 24th August 2015 at 17:41

hello there Brian - so sad about GordonTopping - did he retire to abroad? good to know Dorothy Hunt, June and Eileen still going! good of you to keep us updated.

Comment by: Brian Robinson on 24th August 2015 at 21:00

Hello Ann M, In answer to your question about Gordon. He did very well for himself during his working life.He ended up as a Chief Engineer on merchant ships, until he retired. It was then that he lived in Malaga for the remainder of his life.He was a smashing individual and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. As the next ML reunion gets nearer,we are now in contact with some 8or9 of the girls from the 2 classes.I have managed to make contact today with Doreen Pearson.I'm sure you will remember her. Most of these 8 or 9 will be at the reunion.Hope you will make it too.'Robby'.

Hi Les, I am Ann Stevenson now Winstanley. We lived on Moss Lane until 1960 when we moved to Hindley and I moved to Argyle Street. I was friends with Brenda Richards who lived at Spring View and on Moss Lane lived near Gordon amd Muriel Topping and round the corner from Harry Stephens. We also lived near Olive and Dennis Caulfield and Sylvia Gore. My cousin, who also went to Moss Lane, is Alan Stevenson, he was a year above me. Like me he went to St Nathaniel's prior to Moss Lane.
