Yes Irene , this was the 'new' scool I think was the 2nd year after it opened in 1959.

The girls are Betty Atkinson - who hasn't changed a bit - Carol Hunter who emigrated to Hindley, Norm Shawcross- the roofer- Richard Balderson ,the spledidly named Frank George Gregory Nichols of Windermere Rd and me.

I recognise Norman Shawcross now. He lived near me and I was friends with his sister, Sheila.

I think Betty Atkinson is the sister of joe Atkinson if so Joe was a good friend of mine at rose bridge not seen him for a good few years last i heard he was living in springfield.

The 'Rocking Contraption' that the two little girls are sitting in, I remember it well. Used to love it, but I recall an incident where two kids were going a bit too wild on it and the thing went straight over....Can you imagine? Must've been tough in them days...
