I remember some of these then children, went on to be in my year at Whelley Secondary Modern School as it was known as then.

Linda, not sure the year is right? I went to St Stephen's from roughly 1966/67 (I would have been 5 in October 1967) so the building wasn't condemned in 1966. I was there when we moved to the new building (and remember the gas explosion when the old school had closed, as part of a gas bottle came through the roof of the house next door). Don't recognise any of the names apart from Mr Reaney! My contemporaries were the likes of Paul Fisher, Colin Ellam, Julie Bennett, Janet Bibby, Jane Else. I used to have a class photo years ago which has long since disappeared - I'd love to see a copy now!

Iam you are right about the building not being condemned at that time, as I attended St. Stephens from 1966 to 1969, the gas explosion you talk about happened around Christmas in either 1973 or 1974, I think it was 1974.

This is St George's, and yes, a class of St St Stephens. I was at St George's from 1964 - 1971. Remember St Stephen's joining us; though what year? The photo' illustrates the right hand side of the top floor hall. St Stephen's had those classrooms until 1968. Same joined with St George's following that time. Pupils: Linda Enion, Carol Williamson, Susan Leyland to mention a few do ring a bell! Regards

I must admit that only a few of the names mentioned here do ring a bell. If I remember rightly, our teacher was Mr. Reaney, and I think his first name was George.

Apparently Derek Sabin's brother, Graham, was in my sister's class (Linda Saxon) at St. Stephen's.

Regards
Philip Saxon (resident in Germany for the last 30+ years).

The girl on the left of the second row is my mum Beatrice Lucas, She goes by the name Mary. I am her 31 year old son, She still lives in the house she was born and raised in near Whelley Labour Club.
