i went to this scholl left 1965 . I remember mrs.singer she was our teacher in the top class . mrs seddon the caretaker and mrs hart mrs webb and mrs tickle the dinner ladies . Very good memories of my time at this school . The head teacher was miss cross a big woman always wore a flowered overall and stank of strong perfume . she was a very good piano player , she could play and look round to see who wasnt singing at the same time . woe betide if youre mouth wasnt moving !

Strange, looking at these inocuous faces from nearly four decades ago. I remember with great affection Mrs Tickle, Ann Webb (whose husband Tom was an elder at the Top Chapel and married my parents), Doris Hart (a golden - hearted, kind sweetheart), and one face who haunted me for years and whose bullying favouritism, vanity and short - sighted nastiness ensured I vomited with fear every morning before school. I shan't lower myself to naming which one she is. Have fun guessing!!

My Twin Brother and I went to that school about 1950 we lived in chapel st next to the club
for twenty one years, before flying the nest Mrs Hart was my aunty she lived in cale lane 2nd on the right from the rugby ground with her husband Harold and daughter jean. Mrs webb lived a bit further down. I think Mrs Singer also lived in cale lane. her husband Arnold was the scout master they moved up Haigh near the church. Its funny I think of him when drying the pots at scouts he taught us to dry dishes east. put two plates together do one side then the other then swap them about and do the same, Mrs harts daughter jean became a teacher.
thanks for the photo new springs is unrecognisable today
