for us older ones, Eddie Birchall was a good player for the Latics in the non league days.

I still see Eddie at Latics home games and sometimes at bowling. Walt Corless is still working in the Hingemakers on Heath Road, I still keep in touch with Kenny Simpkin via Christmas cards and have done since we left school.
As for the others, Jimmy Scriven and Stan Yates sadly passed away but I've not seen any of the others for sometime so I don't know what they're up to, apart from Ronnie Boon who I bumped into about six months ago.

I am seated in front of Eddie Birchall. I believe he now lives in Chorley. Not seen Kenny Simpkin since we were confirmed together at Abram. We had a good team who beat Gidlow at Springfield Park in the Lythgoe cup final 2 -0. Best Wishes Gordon Allen
