hi I used to work at exel bakery when I left school I would work Monday to Friday making scones .on a Saturday I worked in wigan Woolworth selling there bread and cakes with my bosses wife and another girl Pauline Jackson .happy memouries my mum worked in Hindley woolwoths on the biscuit counter your christine
I remember the delicious smell of baking bread from the Excel Bakery when I was at Hindley Grammar. MY husband and I went in Woolworths in Ludlow a few years ago, and it had the wooden floor that Hindley Woolworths had, and the same atmosphere......it was like a step back in time.
If we had run out of bread on a Sunday mi mam would send me to Willcox bakery for a loaf straight from the oven. By the time i got home i had bitten all four corners off it were that good.I can feel that backhander even now.
