Love these old pictures. I was about six at the time of this photo but remember Jo Pennington's at one end and Jack Morton (of Mortons) at the other end. My mum was a friend of the Spencers who had the cake and pie shop and I remember her being a friend of the lady who had the clothes shop in the middle of the block as well but I cannot remember her name.

the lady who had the clothes shop was beryl hughes,there was also a chemist in that row swift & robinson.

I used to walk with St Peter's A long time ago when I lived in Bryn I was Margaret Edwards then

I lived opposite Joe Pennington's at 391 - would have been about 5 when this pic was taken, great memories. Remember buying mum a Xmas pressie from Beryl Hughes!

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Bill Carnock the newsagent next to Joe Pennington's shop. I used to stand as a little boy gazing at the Hornby Dublo Train stuff in the window just before Christmas. Also next door to them was Billy Winks' chippy. Chips were 4d and 6d a bag. Seems like another century - wait a minute...... it was!!
